A Message from the Club Captains

2023 Captain Yac Latif

My aim with the help of Judith Mason, our ladies captain is to continue the good work from John’s captaincy, and to keep improving the course and the enjoyment of the members.

It is an honour for me to be chosen as the Captain of Chatsworth Golf Club for 2023. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Captain John Bennett for his hard work and successful leadership in 2022

I would also like to thank Terry Branson who has kindly accepted the role of Vice Captain. Terry and I have already had discussions on how we can generate member participation in more friendly games as well as the normal Medal and Stableford qualifiers. Mixing the start times and days will give more people the opportunity to participate

My chosen charity for this year is Dukes Barn Outdoor Activity Centre based in Beeley. I wanted to support this local charity as they do a brilliant job. Their primary focus is children with special needs, including autism, Asperger’s and Down’s syndrome, children with hearing or sight impairment and those with physical difficulties, including wheelchair users. In addition to their primary focus they also run courses for secondary school children and those from disadvantaged backgrounds and poor, inner city areas

New and existing members have the opportunity to mix and play each other at the Wednesday morning seniors section, which has good attendance, and the Wednesday club night is also a great way for new members to participate in banter and friendly competition

The captains holiday will be at Hill Vall Golf Club, Whitchurch, Shropshire, from 8 to 11 May, playing four games on the challenging Emerald and slightly easier Sapphire courses. I’m looking forward to hosting the 24 members attending the holiday. I will be scheduling a further away day, location yet to be decided.

My aim with the help of Judith Mason, our ladies captain is to continue the good work from John’s captaincy, and to keep improving the course and the enjoyment of the members. If there is anything that I can do to help, please do not hesitate to contact me

Hope you all have a great season

2023 Ladies Captain Judith Mason

We have a fantastic ladies section & a dedicated group of them are on our committee without which we wouldn’t be here. It is a pleasure working with them.

- Judith Mason -

I am delighted to be Lady Captain this year so thank you Chatsworth Ladies for allowing me this honour in 2023 & I look forward to the challenge ahead.

Thanks goes to our outgoing LC Fiona Stephenson for all her hard work last year and a warm welcome to Tricia Sanderson my Vice Captain for this year.

We have a full fixture list with medal & stableford competitions starting in April followed by club knockouts, mixed competitions, friendly competitions, Taskers and of course the Silver and Bronze County Trophy & IC4 matches. April 2023 sees the return of the ladies’ golf holiday, the first time since Covid that we have been away so definitely something to celebrate.

The Captains’ charity this year is Dukes Barn which is close to my heart & provides activities for people of all ages & abilities but has a primary focus on children with special needs.

We have a fantastic ladies section & a dedicated group of those ladies are on our committee without which we wouldn’t be here. It is a pleasure working with them.

Finally, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all ladies that play at Chatsworth whether they are existing members, guests or potential new members.

I look forward to seeing you out on the course.

Judith Mason
