In the coming year I am sure we are all hoping that we can get back to some normality and fingers crossed COVID free.
It is now time for me to take over as your Captain for 2021. First of all I would like to thank Captain Phil Barber for all his work and endeavours this year. COVID-19 seems to have met him at every corner trying to scupper any plans he made so in what must be one of the most challenging years ever as Captain he deserves all our thanks. In the coming year I am sure we are all hoping that we can get back to some normality and fingers crossed COVID free. I’m looking forward to the year ahead and hoping that everyone will have an enjoyable year of Golf.
I am very pleased that John Bennett has accepted my invitation to become Vice Captain and I am sure he will be a great help for me and for the future of the Club. I am looking forward to working together with him and Lady Captain Sue Lloyd in the coming year. I am hoping for us to be able to have a more normal year (if COVID-19 will let us). I hope everyone will be able to join in and enjoy. Let’s have a great bounce back year.
Wednesday Club night is a great place to start, all are welcome. It’s a good social event and a good way of getting to know new friends, particularly for new members. When I joined the Club I didn’t know any of the members. It was by joining in on Club night that I found what a friendly Club it is and I have made some great friends. Please come along, you will be welcome.
My charity this year will be Ashgate Hospice and I hope we can support them. This is a local charity that greatly benefits the area. I believe, like all charities at the moment, they need all the help they can get.
I am looking forward to the Captains Holiday in April and fingers crossed things will go well in Portugal. I am also hoping to arrange a short break holiday later on in the Year in the UK giving a chance for those who did not wish to travel abroad to have a holiday.
As Phil Barbers year as Captain was not a normal year, nor was my year as Vice Captain, I feel I have a lot to learn. Please bear with me while I find my way.
Best Wishes
Robert McDonald, Captain 2021
We have a fantastic ladies section & a dedicated group of them are on our committee without which we wouldn’t be here. It is a pleasure working with them.
I am delighted to be Lady Captain this year so thank you Chatsworth Ladies for allowing me this honour in 2023 & I look forward to the challenge ahead.
Thanks goes to our outgoing LC Fiona Stephenson for all her hard work last year and a warm welcome to Tricia Sanderson my Vice Captain for this year.
We have a full fixture list with medal & stableford competitions starting in April followed by club knockouts, mixed competitions, friendly competitions, Taskers and of course the Silver and Bronze County Trophy & IC4 matches. April 2023 sees the return of the ladies’ golf holiday, the first time since Covid that we have been away so definitely something to celebrate.
The Captains’ charity this year is Dukes Barn which is close to my heart & provides activities for people of all ages & abilities but has a primary focus on children with special needs.
We have a fantastic ladies section & a dedicated group of those ladies are on our committee without which we wouldn’t be here. It is a pleasure working with them.
Finally, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all ladies that play at Chatsworth whether they are existing members, guests or potential new members.
I look forward to seeing you out on the course.
